So with a new school year, new season, new outlook upon my return to “home base,” I’ve joyously picked up a new hobby: Spinning! Granted, having knit for quite some years, I guess it would be intuitive to pick up such a related hobby. With that said, I purchased a drop spindle, some roving, and have enjoyed it immensely! Granted, the yarn looks pretty yucky and it’s taking a lot of patience in order to continue, but I’m having such a great time exploring the process and learning how to make the fiber that I so love.
I’m really looking forward to developing this hobby further and ultimately going from the raw wool purchasing, to the dyeing, carding, then spinning. The idea of going from completely raw material into a sweater just excites me so! This will be a great year!
Aside from the plethora of hobbies that involve creating goods, I’ve been fortunate enough to playing lots and lots of frisbee. Granted, that lots and lots is never quite enough for me, but along with school starting (with SO much work to do, I have to knit during class in order to make time for it), a wee bit of spinning and knitting, and frisbee, I feel like the last 4 weeks have flown by ridiculously fast. But I’m hoping to finish a project this week, so stay tuned for some finished object photos! Happy knitting (and spinning!)
